In honour of Anzac Day I decided to find out about a relative that was in the War. I chose my Great Grandfather Eric Sutherland
who was in World War 2 from 1939 to 1945, He was 20 at the time as he was born in 1919.
Eric did his training before they went away, they went out to Burnham military camp and did their training then he got on the boat
and went across to England. When he was then sent to Greece and then he got captured by the Germans and he ended up in and
what they call a prisoner of war camp. In 1945 he arrived home to Christchurch and received medals they were :
